Hilton Yam is a retired FBI Special Agent. During a career of over 21 years (1998-2019) in the Miami Field Office, one of the FBI’s largest and busiest, he was assigned to bank robbery, fugitives, and firearms training. He spent 19 years on SWAT and served as his team’s principal instructor for firearms, CQB, and tactics. Hilton is also an FBI certified Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Senior Tactical Instructor, Rappel Master, and ALERRT Active Shooter Response Instructor.
In the early 90's, Hilton was one of the first in his region to compete in USPSA with a pistol mounted optical sight, and later became one of the original beta testers for the Trijicon RMR in 2012.
Hilton's competition experience led him to learn about pistolsmithing the 1911, and his FBI SWAT career encompassed the entire lifespan of the FBI contracted Springfield Professional 1911. He gained much experience on the platform, which he transferred to designing a line of custom parts for his company 10-8 Performance, building custom 1911s, and providing armorer training for the 1911 and 2011.
In 2019-2020, Hilton was a contractor for STI/Staccato 2011 where he stood up and taught their LE Armorer Program for the 2011.
Hilton has provided armorer, tactical, and firearms training to LAPD, LASD, and countless other state and local agencies as well as national asset units for federal agencies.
